Health Claims for Auto Insurance project (HCAI)
HCAI is a new system developed in cooperation between a number of organizations, including FSCO and Ontario auto insurers, to automate the exchange of standardized health claim information between health care providers and insurance companies and to standardize health claim information.
HCAI impacts all health-care facilities, clinics, and businesses who have involvement with auto injuries. In part an initiative of the Provincial Government, HCAI has been mandated by new legislation and is to be used for all form submission by February 1, 2008.
Your Options
Since connecting with HCAI is mandatory beginning February 1, 2008, current options for compliance are limited.
HCAI Website
HCAI developed a website which provides a method for your facility to connect and submit OCF claims. This tool is accessible but has, due to the limitations of their web technology, frustrating speed and usability issues. While you can try the HCAI website to see if it suits your needs, you will save time, reduce frustration and be more confident that your claims are going through successfully if you start using ABEL - OCFSync instead.
